My Journey showing female weather presenter

As a child all I wanted to be was a meteorologist, that is until I received poor A-level grades. A change of strategy was required. I had to get a job, it so happened to be in an architect’s office. Three years at Technical College on day-release resulted in achieving a place at Leicester School of Architecture.

This early experience of ‘failure’ equipped me with a structure for resilience during challenging moments that stayed with me throughout my professional life.

Out of adversity came success – more than I had ever imagined.

I have over 30 years’ experience as a chartered architect and project director leading multi-disciplined design teams for large international practices. I have held senior roles including Board Director of an international architectural practice, National Chairman of the Association of Women in Property and now Trustee of Twickenham Riverside Trust.

Working in a traditionally male environment has illuminated some interesting insights into the value of a blended team. It has given me a passion for supporting gender diversity, equality and inclusion.
